An Exciting Summer

So sorry, I've been out of touch for this long!

So far it's been a very rewarding Summer. I'll spare you a tome and just stick to the basics of what's been going on for the last few months:

I went to Kentucky to shoot an independent film with writer/director Lyman Creason. A Hitchcockian thriller through and through! Really wonderful and talented people on set. Lots of fun.

Audiobooks, Audiobooks, Audiobooks! Pretty much every week that I haven't been out of town. Exciting highlights:

I directed a book, Half Brother by Kenneth Oppel narrated by Daniel DiTomasso.

Just Finished recording the Sequel to Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey Kill the Dead.

The book was directed by Paul Ruben of Paul Ruben Productions. A fantastic director.

I will be recording Wildfire Run by Dee Garretson for HarperChildren's Audio.

This is my first book with Harper Audio, all previous being recorded with Brilliance Audio and Audible Inc.

Next week I will be traveling to Louisville to film a music video and some sketch comedy with Indie Filmmaker Stu Pollard

Aside from work, I spent a beautiful sun soaked week in Maine, and while in Portland had the good fortune of hearing The Mallett Brothers Band live in concert! This is what Country Music is supposed to sound like- a driving beat reminiscent of Johnny Cash, alternately heartfelt and fun songwriting, grizzled but melodic vocals and dirty guitar licks.

GREAT theater! and you can afford to go!

If you want to see a great new play, check out DUTCH MASTERS at the Cherry Pit Theater presented by Labyrinth theater company, written by Greg Keller. It stars the incredible Seth Numerich (my Slipping co-star) and Amari Cheatom. Friendly associations aside, this is an incredible play that needs to be seen. so go see it! Just $15

Rattlestick Reading Series

I will be doing a staged reading at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater on Tuesday, May 11. If you haven't heard of Rattlestick's Evening Reading Series, you gotta check it out! and not just the one I'm doing. It's FREE and you get to hear great new plays, and support a Superb Theater company. I've always loved going to readings because I get to be part of a play's process and development. I love that energy. No pretense, just, "here's a story we're trying to tell, will you let us tell it to you, so that we can make it better?" It's something basic and raw. I think it's usually every Tuesday night, though sometimes they shake up the schedule. Hope to see you there!

Good New Plays

Recently performed in a reading of a new play based on the Newbury Award winning novel, The Wednesday Wars adapted by Kirsten Kelly (director of Slipping). Really a wonderful story. I think this piece will have a life all over the country. Make my fellow RPRer some money!

Books, Books, Books!

Back to back to back with Audible. They've had me recording out in Newark every week for the past 3 or 4 and there's one more to go, thus far. Then maybe a nice trip over to Michigan to visit my friends at Brilliance. I've been receiving some very kind notes regarding The Lock Artist. I am so happy that people are enjoying listening to these stories. I may anonymously publish a few on here, haven't decided. Just finished Faces of the Gone by Brad Parks. Next up, Flash Burnout.

The Things They Carried

Barrington Stage was a wonderful host to this reading. This ended up being a very powerful piece of theater for us as well as audiences even as only a staged reading. Thank you so much to the community of Pittsfield and to Barrington Stage Company. It was an honor to tell these stories. Thank you to the other actors, Tim Rush and Alex Cendese for your talent and commitment. Thank you Julie for conceiving the project and Mark St. Germain for your insight and delicate direction. I look forward to developing this project further!
